Chongqing, one of China’s largest cities and a province-level municipality, is led by Chongqing University as its main 985 campus.

1. Chongqing University (重庆大学)

Founded in 1929, a Project 985 and 211 member. QS 2026: #504 globally; ARWU: #151-200 band; EduRank 2026: #530 globally. Strong in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering. Admits several hundred to ~1,200 international students, with partnerships across 100+ institutions in 20 countries.

2. Southwest University (西南大学)

Founded in 1906, a Project 211 member (not a full 985). Strong in Agriculture, Pedagogy/Education, and Psychology — its silkworm genome research is considered world-leading. Has admitted international students since the 1950s, with dedicated international-student scholarships.

3. Chongqing Medical University (重庆医科大学)

Founded in 1956, not a 985/211 member but recognized as Chongqing’s strongest medical specialist. One of ~30 Chinese medical schools approved for English-taught MBBS, WHO-recognized. Has 499 confirmed international students, including from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Pakistan — a directly relevant pick for Indonesian medical-track applicants.

How This Relates to CSCA

Chongqing University weighs CSCA Mathematics and Physics scores strictly for its engineering majors. Southwest University places more weight on Chemistry/Biology for agriculture majors. Chongqing Medical University, given its MBBS program, requires solid CSCA Chemistry and Biology scores.
